Technology and Reading
March 30, 2007Television has had a detrimental impact on our society. In general, today’s kids don’t pick up a book to read, or sit down to reflect and write about their lives. Instead, they resort to being entertained by exerting minimal effort and switching on the television set that invades the home!
How can we get our students to read… not just read, but to enjoy reading, to savor reading, and to experience its potential as a majestic journey within the mind?
Can the Internet and technology contribute to unlocking the imagination and promoting reading and writing?

This site from the E-Resource Center at City University of New York (CUNY) contains useful exercises to help students generate ideas for their essays, develop an introduction and thesis, create structured paragraphs, revise and edit their work, format their essay and research the essay, and select a research topic.

Technology for ESL Teachers
March 27, 2007Welcome to the Tech for Teachers Web Log!
This site is created for high school ESL teachers who are interested in improving the English proficiency of their students through the use of technology.
The site originates in the south-western quadrant of Puerto Rico — Yauco, San Germán, Lajas, & Mayaguez – but thanks to this blog, it has no boundaries.
Please feel free to post comments, articles, presentations, and any other useful
information on this blog to share.
